June 6, 2017 — Shortly after 10pm on Monday, June 5th, a fire broke out in the Hot Mill area of the MST Seamless Tube & Pipe manufacturing plant. No one was injured in the incident at all. The community emergency teams that responded – the South Lyon Fire Department and the Green Oak Township Fire Department arrived on the scene swiftly and had the fire entirely out in about half an hour.

Initial reports indicate that the fire was caused by a hydraulic hose that failed prematurely. The fire was contained to the Hot Mill area only and did not affect the remainder of the manufacturing facility.

We are exceptionally proud of the MST personnel, who did exactly as they were trained to do in an emergency. They immediately called the local fire department and evacuated personnel in the immediate area as well as all personnel throughout the rest of the mill as a precaution.

We commend all of our employees for their immediate and appropriate response and commend the South Lyon Fire Department and the Green Oak Township Fire Department for their quick response time and fast action extinguishing the fire.

The balance of the mill was not affected and is fully operational. Today, we’re assessing the extent of the damage and restarting equipment in order to be fully operational in a matter of days. Ultimately, we don’t expect any disruption in business, and in fact, actual order delays will be quite nominal.
