December 28, 2011 — It’s been a big year at MST, and we owe you — our valued customers — a big thank you for making 2011 so great.
As we begin 2012, we want to wish you a very Happy New Year. Everyone at MST is looking forward to the coming year, and as always, we’re ready to come to your rescue with the product you need and the stellar service we’re committed to providing.
We’re especially excited to announce another new improvement at our Michigan plant. We call it the Pickle Expansion project, and we expect it to provide an additional 450 tons per month of capacity and improve overall material flow through our existing steel mill. A $6 million capital expenditure has been approved, and we will construct a new building which will house the acid tubs, lube tubs and crane. The project will kick off in the 1st quarter of 2012 with an estimated completion date of Fall 2012.
“Pickle capacity has always been an issue at MST,” says Ted Fairley, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “But this pickle expansion project will vastly improve flow in the mill and greatly improve lead times for our customers.”
“A significant improvement such as this is a great way to begin the New Year,” says Les Whitver, Vice President of Operations. The expanded pickle capabilities helps to better utilize the available hot mill and draw bench capacity, which means more bench turns of operation. “MST will soon be able to draw more feet per month, which will increase the monthly tonnage we’re able to ship,” says Whitver. And that’s great news for MST customers.
You ask. We deliver. It’s About Time.
